Sr Manager, Engineering - Full Stack Engineering

The Role

As an Engineering Manager within Workplace Investing Technology, you will define and execute the technical strategy for a portfolio of applications supporting back-office operations and process automation. You will lead a cross-functional team of engineers and analysts to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient workflow and orchestration solutions.

Partnering closely with Product, Architecture, and Operations, you will translate business objectives into high-impact technology solutions that improve efficiency, scalability, and operational effectiveness. You will own end-to-end delivery, team performance, and production stability within your domain.

This role requires a strong balance of technical leadership, delivery execution, and people development, with the ability to thrive in a transformation-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute engineering strategy aligned to business priorities, product vision, and enterprise architecture
  • Translate business, operational, and regulatory needs into actionable roadmaps; own delivery milestones and outcomes
  • Provide technical leadership across workflow automation and BPM solutions, guiding architecture, design, and implementation
  • Build scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems while balancing near-term delivery with long-term standardization and reuse
  • Drive engineering excellence through best practices in coding, testing, design patterns, CI/CD, and modern architectures
  • Remain hands-on to unblock teams and ensure high-quality, stable releases, especially during critical production periods
  • Champion adoption of AI-assisted development to improve productivity, quality, and delivery speed
  • Own end-to-end delivery including planning, estimation, capacity management, dependencies, and continuous improvement
  • Lead operational excellence through strong production support, incident management, and root cause prevention
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team across hiring, coaching, and career development
  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning
  • Translate technical concepts into business outcomes and influence decision-making
  • Identify and deliver opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and process effectiveness

Required Skills and Expertise

  • 12 years in software engineering; 3 years leading teams; Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in BPM/workflow automation and business process reengineering (Camunda preferred)
  • Strong foundation in object-oriented design, engineering patterns, and modern application architectures
  • Experience building REST APIs, distributed systems, and working with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Deep knowledge of SDLC, quality practices, and engineering governance
  • Proven track record delivering scalable, resilient systems with strong production support practices
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, performance tuning, and CI/CD
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to influence across technical and business stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ownership, results orientation, and ability to lead through ambiguity
  • Passion for mentoring, developing talent, and fostering innovation and continuous improvement

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
