The Role

The Workplace Investing (WI) Platform technology group within Fidelity Investments is responsible for the development and maintenance of technology solutions supporting Fidelity's Defined Contribution (DC) business. The DC plan administration record keeping services platform serves plan sponsors in the configuration of their DC plans and operates in a mixed-technology environment (Java, Spring, Angular, Oracle) across multiple tiers (web server, app server, DB).

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 10 plus Years of Technology Experience
  • Experience with developing or managing a development team with Angular, Java, Database Skills.
  • Demonstrated ability leading, mentoring, and developing people and robust teams.
  • 2 plus years of experience working in an agile delivery environment.
  • Deep technical and functional knowledge in financial domain.
  • Proven approach to decision making, both in day-to-day management and in making strategic trade-offs.
  • Proven expertise with multi-functional collaboration to achieve the best results.
  • Experience with resource planning and allocation within and across organizations.
  • Strong leadership skills: you must be passionate about engineering excellence, empowerment of individuals/team, innovation, collaboration and must be eager to learn and teach every day.
  • Creating and maintaining a culture based on Fidelity and Agile leadership principles.
  • Supporting the alignment of work with tribe objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs). In addition, ensuring that Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM) work is factored into the Delivery Engineering’s roadmap accordingly.
  • Ensuring how the work performed by technical delivery team members is aligned with architectural best practices.
  • Continuously developing and maintaining outstanding Delivery Engineering expertise and talent to support the squads and tribes.
  • Identifying and fulfilling training and hiring needs to help the squads and tribes deliver their goals.
  • Collaborating with other Delivery Engineering leads to ensuring a common vision and initiative-taking communication, both horizontally and vertically.
  • Implementing existing engineering practices and setting up new ones as and when needed.
  • Readily available for escalations and prioritizations.

The Team

This group is looking for a Director Engineering Lead at its Smithfield, Rhode Island site to be part of its dynamic, globally distributed team of IT professionals responsible for the development and maintenance of Fidelity's DC plan administration record keeping services platform.

As a DC plan administration recordkeeping Engineering Lead, you blend deep technology and business expertise with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing associates. All with a focus on delivering value to our customers. Within an agile structure, we collaborate with other leaders to shape the standards for our Delivery Engineering, influence our strategic decisions, and build solutions that surpass customers’ expectations. Responsible for directly managing a team of Delivery Engineering members who primarily work within autonomous squads across tribes. We are dedicated to helping associates grow and develop their skills and knowledge. Likewise, we are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge. We want you to bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
