The Role

The FMR LLC Legal Department is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel to join the Regulatory Coordination Program Office (RCPO). RCPO is responsible for coordinating Fidelity’s regulatory advocacy response on proposed rulemakings and firm-wide regulatory priorities. In this role, you will help identify, analyze, and provide counsel on regulatory matters, partnering with Legal colleagues, business leaders, Government Relations, and Public Policy teams. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will serve as a key advisor and strategic partner, providing comprehensive counsel on complex regulatory matters and helping to shape Fidelity’s regulatory engagement and advocacy efforts.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • J.D. with 5 plus years of relevant experience with a law firm or financial services firm.
  • Strong working knowledge of the U.S. regulatory framework, including SEC, FINRA, CFTC, and DOL.
  • Experience leading or substantially contributing to regulatory advocacy efforts, including drafting or overseeing agency comment letters and coordinating input across multiple stakeholders.
  • Exceptional writing, analytic, and interpersonal communication skills,
  • Strong communications and presentation skills, including the ability to synthesize and communicate complex concepts clearly and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment that will require you to manage multiple, competing tasks and long-term projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior attorneys, business leaders, and partners across the organization.
  • Strong interest in learning new areas and managing matters to completion.
  • Willingness to exercise independent judgment.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and self-directed, but comfortable with obtaining feedback and buy-ins from numerous constituents.

The Team

The RCPO team is composed of legal and non-legal professionals who monitor, communicate, and analyze regulatory advocacy initiatives across the Fidelity organization. The team counsels on new regulatory proposals and leads Fidelity's internal regulatory advocacy responses, including agency comment letters and coordination with industry groups. We enjoy the variety of our work and the exposure it provides to Fidelity’s key regulatory initiatives and to colleagues across the firm.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $140,000-285,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
