The Role

Are you excited by shaping how complex investments are accounted for at scale? Join our Investment Center of Excellence (COE) Accounting team as a Director and play a critical role in strengthening the strategy, systems, and operating model that support investment accounting across the organization. In this role, you will be leading the development and execution of investment accounting frameworks, ensuring consistency, strong controls, and high-quality financial reporting across business units. You will partner closely with accounting, policy, and business teams to navigate complex investment structures, provide technical guidance, and translate detailed analysis into clear, actionable insights for leadership. This role also offers broad exposure across the organization, with opportunities to enhance processes and drive greater efficiency and scalability in how investment accounting is performed. As a leader, you will help foster a collaborative, high-performing environment—coaching talent, strengthening accountability, and contributing to a culture focused on continuous improvement and innovation in support of the firm’s evolving investment landscape.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA and/or master’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant accounting, including public accounting and/or consolidated investment reporting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and internal control frameworks.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in investment accounting for both investment and non-investment companies across a range of products (including alternative structures: CLOs, LPs, Private Credit, Private Equity), with the ability to apply accounting guidance to drive consistent, accurate financial reporting.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and leading the implementation and ongoing optimization of new technology platforms, with an innovative and strategic mindset.
  • Collaborative leadership style with experience coaching and developing others while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
  • Ability to navigate and understand complex organizational and ownership structures.
  • Demonstrated judgment, initiative, and an inquisitive mindset with a focus on strengthening processes and controls.
  • Clear, confident communicator with the ability to translate detailed analysis into executive‑level insights and partner effectively across the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced environments.
  • Curiosity for technology and experience working with financial systems, reporting platforms, and analytical tools.

The Team

The Investment COE Accounting Team works across the company to provide expertise, consistency, and continuous improvement in investment accounting. We partner across the organization to support accurate reporting, strong controls, and successful close cycles. Our team is focused on modernizing systems and processes, reducing manual work, and building scalable solutions that support the company’s evolving investment landscape. Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $95,000-186,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
