Chief Control Executive Office - Strategy, Planning and Governance
The Chief Control Executive organization is seeking talented professionals to join the team as Business Risk & Control Officers to ensure effective control frameworks are established and maintained, as well as to ensure that significant and emerging risks are properly captured and managed. These newly created positions will support activities aligned to groups and functions within Strategy, Planning and Governance focused on defining and delivering initiatives and programs as well as build relationships with a wide variety of senior leaders and Enterprise partners.

Business Risk and Control Officer - Issue Management and Escalation

The Business Risk and Control Officer is tasked with providing support within the Chief Control Executive Business Enablement office to ensure effective frameworks are established as well as to ensure that significant and emerging risks are captured properly as they arise. This newly created position within the Strategy, Planning and Governance organization will support activities aligned with the Issues Management and Escalation work stream required to drive the implementation of Wells Fargo's policies across all business groups and enterprise functions. This role will partner with executive management to define and deliver initiatives and programs and will build relationships with a wide variety of senior leaders and Enterprise partners.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Support and drive the firm wide design and implementation of Issues Management & Escalation
  • Demonstrate project management skills in order to drive consistent execution of the programs within the Control Executive Teams, across Control groups and with front line
  • Provide training of appropriate policies, procedures, and expectations across the business
  • Support management of consent order action plan elements assigned to Control, including measurement of progress, communication of progress, achievements and metrics dashboard reporting
  • Engage with Strategy, Planning and Governance leadership team as required in support of consent order work stream activities and deliverables
  • Provide support of governance activities and guidance over risk program activities
  • Develop presentations and materials for senior leaders with effectiveness across a wide range of audiences
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with development of data sets, metrics, KPIs and project plans
  • Aggregate, evaluate, report results and escalate where necessary

Locations: New York, NY; Charlotte, NC; West Des Moines, IA; Minnesota, MN preferred; Other Wells Fargo hub locations may be considered.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management


Desired Qualifications

  • A Master's degree or higher
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LiveMeeting and SharePoint) skills
  • Strong analytical skills


Other Desired Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in issues management/escalation process development, execution and reporting - data driven exercise putting
  • Clear understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type
  • Technical understanding of Corporate Risk operations, processes, and responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators (including virtual), experience working in a matrixed environment and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the business and enterprise Risk function
  • Able to think strategically and pivot between multiple priorities
  • Leadership and project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end to end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer processes
  • Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to assess and determine when to raise concerns and escalate
  • Analytical ability used to identify risks and confidently raise issues, escalate early and engage in constructive challenge, doing so independently when necessary
  • Demonstrated strength delivering effective solutions from concept to execution.
  • Proven project management skills to deliver repeatable end to end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer processes
  • Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to assess and determine when to raise concerns and escalate
  • Strong analytical ability used to identify risks and confidently raise issues and escalate early
  • Ability to proactively manage and resolve conflict and effectively defend decisions with objective rationale


Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
