The VALIC Financial Advisor Internship Program offers the brightest college students the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in the financial services industry. Selected students will receive targeted training and the opportunity to apply academic learning with life experiences to support individual career aspirations. This internship program is designed to provide a strong foundation toward becoming a successful financial advisor within the VALIC organization.

The VALIC Financial Advisor Internship Program focuses on five key areas within the VALIC sales division including Operations, Marketing, Practice Management, Financial Planning and Asset Management. Interns will report directly to the Regional Vice President and will be connected to a network of industry leaders who will provide training and coaching in each of the key areas to get real-life applicable experience and career building lessons. Additionally, the VALIC Financial Advisor Internship Program will supplement university curriculum with development of interpersonal skills, relationship building, and industry content. It is designed to be a 10 week program and is based out of the company's Regional Offices in various metropolitan areas.

Throughout the VALIC Financial Advisor Internship Program, Interns will receive specific training towards starting a career in the financial services industry.

On the Job Training -Interns will be mentored by industry veterans on various aspects of the Financial Advisor role. This includes:
- New client acquisition
- Financial Planning
- Asset Allocation
- Marketing practices
- Practice Management
- Territory Management

Individualized Learning - Financial Advisor Interns are expected to complete both self-study and instructor guided curriculum, which includes:
- Product Training
- Business Planning
- Sales Techniques
- Technical and Systems Training

Mentoring/Peer Network - With the assistance of the management team, Financial Advisor Interns are able to develop a strong network of relationships throughout all levels of the organization

Upon completion of the program, Financial Advisor Interns should have a solid understanding of the retirement services industry, the products and investment solutions offered and the organization's core competencies. After successfully completing the program, Financial Advisor Interns should be prepared to move into a Financial Advisor position at VALIC.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum grade point average of 3.2 (unofficial transcript required upon application)
• 2 years of college level education and on track to graduate with within 18 months
• Proven leadership skills to pursue each rotation with enthusiasm and focus
• Demonstrated organization skills, ability to multi task and set priorities, as demonstrated through activities or work experience
• Excellent communication skills -oral and written presentation
• Excellent interpersonal skills - builds relationships easily, works well in teams
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
