VALIC specializes in retirement savings and investment products and services, including individual variable and fixed annuities, group retirement products, mutual funds, financial planning and investment advisory services and guaranteed investment contracts. VALIC has been in the 403(b) market since its inception writing the first K-12 403(b) programs almost 50 years ago.


VALIC Operations has an extremely fast-paced and dynamic environment and operates within a strong compliance and regulatory environment. The functions are high impact and include operations and service activities required to support plan sponsors in the administration of retirement plans such as plan implementations, transaction activities, reporting and customer contact centers. This means, VALIC has to be proactive and assertive in its ability to identify, stop, and prevent fraudulent activity.


The Investigation Analyst is key in identifying and stopping fraudulent transactions. By reviewing and responding to potential threats you will be equipped with the knowledge and expertise to prevent further impact to the customer and the company.

  • Conducting all required regulatory reporting to internal and external stakeholders according to established guidelines.
  • Thoroughly investigating allegations of suspicious account activity, communicating and documenting dispositions in an articulate and concise manner.
  • Working with IT, internal business units, and team members to ensure all requisite investigations and follow-ups are completed. Including, but not limited to, requests to stop processing of fraudulent transactions, reclaiming funds distributed to fraudsters, and reporting to the proper regulatory units.
  • Overseeing the team's mailbox to ensure that requests are acknowledged and handled in a timely manner.
  • Conducting random quality reviews of investigation research.
  • Coordinate with necessary stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure that process and procedure documentation remains current.
  • Communicating relevant updates to team, stakeholders and leadership as appropriate.
  • Within the first six (6) to twelve (12) months the person in this position will be expected to:
  • Understand systems, processes, and the impact to the team and business objectives.
  • Independently manage all monthly regulatory reporting and communication.
  • Actively participate in identifying process and procedure improvements for team

What we are looking for


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or four years related work experience.
  • Ability to think critically and perform with strict adherence to regulatory reporting guidelines.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills at all levels.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in conducting fraud investigations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: PowerPoint, Word, and Access. Expert in MS Excel.
  • Experience using Cognos, SharePoint, and/or other reporting and case management databases.
  • Demonstrates initiative, perseverance, and commitment in accomplishing objectives.
  • Ability to identify a problem and its root cause as well as recommend viable solutions.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, special assignments, and other priorities while adjusting work accordingly to meet target deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and perform necessary tasks without supervision or prompting.
