Our world-class team is seeking individuals who would like to be a part of the foundation for building out an innovative audit team at AIG's new Charlotte office!

AIG's Internal Audit Group (IAG) provides independent and objective assurance, advice, and insight guided by a philosophy of adding value to improve the operations of AIG. IAG assists AIG in accomplishing its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of AIG's control environment including risk management, operational, financial, internal control, and governance processes.

As a Professional Practices Manager you will be part of IAG's Professional Practices Team in our Charlotte, North Carolina office. The position will report to the Professional Practices Lead. You will serve as a member of IAG's Professional Practices Team in delivering quality assurance (QA) work.

As a member of the Professional Practices Team you will have an exciting opportunity to learn about AIG's products and services and enhance your knowledge and skillsets as you support initiatives to enhance our practice. You will partner with audit teams supporting multiple businesses and functions including General Insurance, Life & Retirement, and Corporate Functions such as Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Investments, and Legal, Compliance and Regulatory.

You will collaborate with audit teams and other assurance teams to:

  • Partner with global audit leaders, team members and IAG business managers on audit process and methodology initiatives
  • Maintain IAG's policies and procedures
  • Work closely with other Strategy and Infrastructure teams (e.g. Training and Operations and Reporting) to help build audit methodology and skills training

IAG is seeking candidates who have excelled in previous work experience, possess strong analytical, quantitative and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about and committed to AIG to contribute to IAG's mission of being an industry leading internal audit team and key contributor to the achievement of the firm's strategic goals. We are looking for candidates that are proactive, continuously learn and introduce improved ways of doing things, both to business stakeholders in development of solutions to problems, IAG processes, including the use of data analytics.

You will gain a unique view of AIG, as part of planning and executing on all aspects of the audit process and risk assessment activities and will build close working relationships with business and functional leaders, colleagues across other assurance functions, and fellow team members.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain audit methodology policies and procedures
  • Work closely with other Strategy and Infrastructure teams (Training and Operations and Reporting) to help build audit methodology and skills training
  • Partner with global audit leaders, team members and IAG business managers on audit process and methodology initiatives
  • Working closely with the Audit Leads and managers to drive consistent adherence to policies and procedures
  • Manage various projects throughout the year (e.g. risk assessment and planning)
  • Assist in quality assurance reviews of various audit activities, e.g. audits, continuous monitoring and issue verification
  • Some travel may be required, up to 25%


The ideal candidate for this role should have audit, audit practices and QA knowledge and experience. The role requires strategic and critical thinking, analytical skills, and influence skills as well as the ability to collaborate to achieve results that have significant impact in IAG and the Company. Specifically:

  • 5 - 7 years of experience with internal audit policies and procedures within a large insurance company or financial services corporation
  • Bachelor's degree; MBA a plus
  • Knowledge of IIA standards; FRB/regulatory reporting; Sarbanes-Oxley; risk management techniques and compliance requirements
  • Strong business and financial acumen and project management/ organizational skills with ability to multi-task and deal with change in a proactive and positive manner
  • Ability to think strategically, be able to see patterns, anticipates future consequences and trends, and incorporates them into on-going plans
  • Sound judgment and confident ability to make decisions supported by strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in performing data analysis & reporting
  • Comfortable building relationships at all levels in the organization
