AIG's underwriters develop insurance solutions that address the exposures of companies and individuals, and embody AIG's tradition of innovation, bringing to market groundbreaking insurance solutions for our changing world. AIG's underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas including life insurance, aviation, financial lines, casualty, environmental, catastrophic events, high net worth individuals, and boardroom liabilities.

This position reports to Managing Director of Underwriting. Under general supervision underwrite complex applications with the ability to evaluate and take final action in an independent manner within approval authority guidelines. Must effectively manage change, defuse conflict, and negotiate positive results. Be able to take cross-functional view of work processes and understand the ramifications to other areas of actions taken and decisions made.

  • Able to demonstrate advanced technical underwriting knowledge and skills
  • Experienced at underwriting life risk of up to 7 million
  • Able to independently and effectively interact with a sophisticated field force dealing in an upscale market
  • May be required to travel on a limited basis for purposes of agency marketing visits

What we are looking for

  • Minimum 7 years of life underwriting experience
  • FLMI, FALU, or CLU designation
  • LOMA Level 1 Certificate
  • Consistent progress toward designation completions
  • Bilingual in Mandarin preferred
