The Information Technology group provides enterprise-wide IT solutions for all of AIG's specialized disciplines. Technology provides strategic and procedural support in all of AIG's specialized disciplines, such as policy issuance, premium collection, claims handling, and administration. It enables AIG to deliver business strategies through efficient world-class IT and operations services, while ensuring the necessary IT risk management and security measures are in place.
Your contribution at AIG
As a Leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset. Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes.
•Develop, configure and install database management systems. Plan and implement new database instance and schema creation on existing database management systems.
•Actively assist development teams to address application performance issues by driving database related performance analysis and tuning. Monitor the database environment and lead development teams to proactively address performance concerns before they surface as issues.
•Apply security best practices to database environments. Evaluate, schedule, configure, and install database upgrades and patches.
•Determine backup strategies for database management systems. Schedule database backups based on business need. Diagnose and resolves backup failures. Perform test restores of database backups to ensure backups are recoverable in the event of database failure and/or disaster.
•Review and advice on System design for High Availability and DR/BCP capability.
•Administer agent software and scripting to automate database management systems with monitoring and scheduling tasks. Respond to database management systems alert notifications.
•Diagnose and resolve database problems.
•Continuously tune database performance to ensure defined business requirements and service level agreements are met.
•Provide technical assistance to developers for database related code and connectivity. Review database design specifications and application code to ensure adherence to database standards and best practices. Coach development teams to utilize efficient SQL coding practices and consider database related performance implications during design.
•Document and maintain database standard operational procedures, run books and DR documents.
•Provide after-hours support as required, including On-Call problem resolution and project related activities.
•Provide information to other teams by collaborating on projects and supporting queries and requests.
•Ensure compliance with policies for Change and Security management, including audit & SOX compliance.
•Ensure compliance with ITIL processes including incident, problem and request management.
•Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending Industry conferences, educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks & benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
•Experience with Cloud based database technologies a plus, like Amazon RDS, RedShift, MongoDB, Azure SQL Database, SQL Data Warehouse, Oracle Exadata Cloud Server, IBM DB2 Cloud.
•Experience with Big Data Platforms a plus, like Hadoop, Cloudera, IBM, Pivotal, Horton Works etc.
•Actively participates in the disaster recovery efforts, ensuring redundancy of all database systems to mitigate major business losses in the event of real disaster.
•Provide leadership in planning for the future infrastructure, proposing new directions and technologies. Participate in the setting of technical standards and drive migration efforts to the future technology infrastructure. Actively work on reducing technology debt.
What we are looking for
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the Duties and Responsibilities above satisfactorily and meet the requirements below.
•8+ Years of in-depth experience in Database Technologies like Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 & MySQL including deep knowledge and experience with Oracle.
•Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems analysis or a related study.
•Strong skills in troubleshooting, performance tuning, backup/recovery and monitoring of large database management systems.
•Application development experience coding, troubleshooting, and performance tuning database related applications utilizing Oracle databases
•Strong skills in implementing security best practices and standards on large, mission critical databases.
•Good knowledge of network load balancing, firewall configurations and database clusters.
•Experience in UNIX shell scripting, Perl, Python and other scripting languages/utilities.
•Experience in working with Waterfall & Agile methodologies like SCRUM, Kanban etc.
•Ability to manage small team of DBAs onshore/offshore and vendor management.
•Ability to independently run technical meetings and directly interface with the business.
•Ability to independently present ideas and business cases, technical write-ups to senior management.
•Good interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication.
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve.
•Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and assistance
•Strong hands on technical experience with Windows, Linux & UNIX platforms managing Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, IBM DB2
