Batch Automation Analyst

Evaluates system specifications for business requirements and develops business solutions to deploy automated processes within Batch Operations. Evaluates existing processes and engages with various technical support teams to eliminate redundancies.
Must have strong operational experience supporting mission critical production batch processing systems for both mainframe and distributed platforms. Candidate must have strong communications skills; ability to interact both verbally and in written format. Must be able to work within the business community and with technical teams.
Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of mainframe and distributed scripting capability; strong knowledge of VI automation tools desired.
Collaborate with technical and application teams to optimize/automate support processes.
Interpret business requirements related to batch processing.
o Ability to define and deploy enhancements towards optimization and modernization and to reduce/eliminate defined manual intervention steps.
o Maintain operation, monitoring, and integrity of production, test, and development systems to meet established standards.
o Participate in 24 x 7 on call rotation during after-hours and weekends.
o Lead junior staff in the automation and lead support team towards automation.
o Participate in and contribute to large scale projects, including but not limited to planning, coordination, and implementation.
o Propose and implement system and operational enhancements including automation opportunities where possible (AI Engineer (currently using IPSoft, Jenkins, etc. ).
o Performs troubleshooting and resolution of incidents and assists application developer team with troubleshooting as needed, interacts with software vendor for incident resolution.
o Analyze incidents and outages and implement measures to prevent reoccurrence.
o Ability to collaborate with team members and clients working in different time zones using available tools.
Knowledge and Skills - Required
o Experienced working knowledge of scheduling and monitoring tools; including error handling routines (preferred tools AutoSys, WCC and CA7, iDash).
o Strong knowledge of DEV/OPS, SDLC.
o Strong knowledge of automation scripting (perl, Unix Shells scripts, power shell scripts , etc.
o Strong knowledge of mainframe automation tools: JCL REXX, SAS.
o Strong understanding of ITIL processes (Request for Service/Change/Incident/Problem).
o Self-motivated, able to prioritize, good at time management and results driven.
o A strong sense of customer service, attention to detail, and issue ownership.
o Customer facing / strong communication skills ; verbal and written format.
o Ability to manage and prioritize multiple significant projects and initiatives.
o Able to work in high pressure and time sensitive critical environments.
o Able to deal efficiently with upper management and business clients.
o A high degree of technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
o Minimum of 7+ years in a batch automation supporting multi-level platform support Mainframe and Distributed environments.
o Strong knowledge of DEV/OPS; OS Scripting, SDLC (Software Development LifeCycle).
o Advanced knowledge and understanding of infrastructure principles and system inter-dependencies outside the job scheduling environment (e.g. networking, databases).
o High level problem analysis and resolution skills.
o Strong understanding of change management processes.
o Project Management skills.
o Solid understanding of file transfer and web protocols (ex: FTP, SFTP, HTTP/S).
o Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related; or any equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
