This role within the Corporate Systems group in the Information Technology organisation at AIG supports our Investment Management line of business, and includes the Business Intelligence applications that support this business. With $340 billion under management, these applications contribute to providing investment advisory and asset management services for AIG and its businesses around the world. As a key member of the Corporate Systems group, the primary purpose of this role is to design, develop, test, maintain, and support the investments data warehouse reporting solutions for AIG's Asset Management Group (AMG). This individual will work as part of the BI reporting team in New York to understand and analyse requirements and develop reports using MicroStrategy Business Intelligence tool, and any additional BI tool sets that we may bring on-board. Successful candidates must be self-driven, demonstrate a clear understanding of BI and Investments Data Warehouse operating environments, and possess very strong SQL skills. Prior Data Warehouse and BI reporting experience is essential. The successful candidate will also have had experience leading diverse teams in different geographic locations, who may not report to him / her. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION ‒ Understanding the needs of the front office stakeholders ‒ Work in the reporting team to understand requirements; design and develop queries to best meet the requirements ‒ Perform detailed data analysis, validation, and identify data quality issues ‒ Create ad-hoc queries and reports as requested and provide on-going analytical support for these requests ‒ Use MicroStrategy for developing reports and dynamic dashboards, and any additional BI tools including Power BI ‒ Tune MicroStrategy (or other tools') queries to run efficiently in a large data volume environment ‒ Train users on reporting tool usage and best practice ‒ Provide production support for MicroStrategy report users ‒ Work in an AGILE and collaborative style to achieve results for the business users in New York
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: ‒ Experience developing large scale systems ‒ Experience developing interfaces to Oracle or other SQL-based databases ‒ Experience working in controlled development, testing and production environments ‒ Experience using Agile-based methodologies (such as Extreme Programming and Scrum) within a software development function ‒ Familiarity with standard development toolkits including source repositories (TFS), SQL interpreters (TOAD), IDEs (.Net), etc. ‒ Extensive experience in reporting and business intelligence applications ‒ Excellent data analysis and SQL skills ‒ 2-5 years of experience working with BI and reporting toolsets ‒ Understanding of capital markets / asset management is a plus ‒ Basic understanding of finance, fixed income securities and derivatives ‒ Ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders, providing support, assistance and advice, in a constructive and professional manner ‒ Strong interest in working in an international environment, with an appreciation of, and respect for, diversity in the workplace ‒ Excellent team working and collaboration skills ‒ Strong written and oral communication skills ‒ Excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills ‒ Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, and project management experience is a plus ‒ Solid work ethic, self-driven with the ability to work with minimal supervision ‒ Ability to work in a high pressure agile environment ‒ Master's degree preferred
