Position Description:
The Operations Financial Controls area monitors, tracks, reports and provides support for complex project activities related to Audits, Operational Risk, and Third Party Administration. You will serve as the liaison between Operations and organization risk management, regulators, legal, internal/external auditors and compliance groups. You will also be responsible for management, coordination and research of Market Conduct Exam/State Inquiries (MCE/SI) activities.

  • Interpret audit requests to ensure proper data and documentation is requested and collected
  • Develops the Project Plan with the team and manage the team's performance of project tasks. Ensures that the project is delivered within budget, on schedule, and within scope parameter
  • Create audit playbooks to assist functional owners with requirements and documentation
  • Communicates reports regarding project status, risk management and escalation of issues that cannot be resolved in the team.
  • Secures acceptance and approval of deliverables from the Project Sponsor and Stakeholders
  • Conducts research and analysis to quantify business opportunities and issues and develops formal recommendations for presentation to management
  • Leads efforts to develop new or revised processes/procedures for the assigned business areas

    Position Responsibilities:

  • Operational Risk Management.
    • Provides monitoring, tracking and reporting for material operational risks and remediation including but not limited to:
      • High risk system issues
      • Internal Audit Findings
      • Compliance and Market Conduct Issues
      • SOX
    • Coordinates compliance with AIG corporate Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and Risk Event Capture (RECAP) standards. Works closely with Operations business areas to ensure documentation requirements are met.
    • Meet deadlines set for reporting material operational risk per company policy.
  • Coordinates special projects in support of operational control activities. Prepares and develops findings into actionable recommendations or strategies and works with IT leaders on system solutions as needed
  • Create and run mock threat assessments
  • Create and publish Reporting related to all identified audit issues

Position Requirements:
The Ideal Candidate Should Have:

  • Professional experience in one or more of the following areas desired: Internal Audit, Compliance, Financial Operations, Operations Management
  • 5-10 years professional experience, including minimum 3 years insurance industry
  • Project Management a plus, certification a plus but not required
  • Excellent management skills to direct and coordinate various functions of the department
  • Excellent organization skills, ability to multi task and set priorities and manage multiple activities involving all levels and across departments and multiple locations
  • Excellent communication skills -oral, written presentation and business writing
  • Analytical aptitude - recognize, analyze, and recommend innovative control
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - easily build relationships, team build and network across departments and with all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated record of high performance
  • Works well under tight deadlines
  • Effective relationship management skills - with staff at all levels
  • Strong business sense/decision making ability
