AIG has an opportunity for a Senior Business Development Manager in our Minneapolis office. The selected candidate will work with product underwriters and distribution partners throughout the Minnesota Territory to maintain and further strengthen agency and broker relationships to develop new opportunities across all lines of coverage provided by AIG. Performance Objectives: Frequently meet with agency, brokers and insureds to build, grow and maintain business relationships. Acquire superior working knowledge of all products, services and capabilities within the commercial insurance segment and effectively interact and coordinate with product segments. Maintain competitor product knowledge and activities within the territory. Develop and execute specific business plans to facilitate gross written premium (GWP) growth of new and existing accounts that coincide with profit center goals. Effectively cross sell existing business within the broker/agency book of business. Review plans on a quarterly basis and revise accordingly due to broker or company appetite. Provide leadership on and quarterback multi-line opportunities. Coordinate underwriting and other services as needed. Drive sales process through to transaction closure. Lead and coach less experienced underwriting teams.
•Cultivate and manage distribution relationships with a particular focus on developing and building those producer relationships that best result in the growth of premium and profitability. 3. Negotiate difficult situations, by anticipating underwriting problems or marketing issues across the territory. Be prepared to offer solutions. 4. Communicate effectively to underwriters and management needs and product appetite for the trade area. 5. Plan and coordinate broker, customer and prospect related events.
Job Requirements: The Ideal Candidate Should Have:
•Minimum 5 years of underwriting, marketing or brokerage experience.
•Strong property and casualty background with a good working knowledge of terms and conditions.
•Understanding of specialty lines such as management liability, cyber, environmental and international is a strong plus.
•Ability to interact with and influence internal and external management; Strong communications skills.
•Weekly travel is required.
•Bachelor's degree is required.
