Compliance Officer and Counsel, Privacy and Records Management

AIG has an opportunity in New York for a Compliance Officer, Privacy and Records Management to assist in developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with AIG's global privacy and records management programs. The Compliance Officer will report to AIG's Chief Privacy Officer and Associate General Counsel and will:

  • Assist with the implementation of AIG's Privacy Compliance Program, including working with business units and corporate functions to address global privacy and data security compliance risks.
  • Assist with the implementation of AIG's Records and Information Management Program, including records retention and disposition and electronic records management.
  • Assist in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating privacy, data security, and records management provisions in third party agreements.
  • Assist in reviewing technology projects and implementing such projects in compliance with applicable privacy, data security and records management requirements.
  • Coordinate responses to information security and privacy-related incidents, including internal and external communications.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of privacy, data security, and records management laws and regulations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of compliance risk assessments and monitoring and testing to confirm compliance with AIG policies and procedures and legal and regulatory requirements.

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal person for this role should have relevant experience in privacy, data security, and records management compliance. Candidates will be expected to possess the following professional and personal attributes:

  • A strong academic background. Law degree required. Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience with global legal and regulatory compliance frameworks. Insurance and/or financial services industry knowledge preferred.
  • Prior experience negotiating privacy and data security provisions in technology and other agreements preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and work effectively within a highly-matrixed organization with employees at all levels.
  • Self-starter with the ability to meet or exceed deadlines, prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to confront conflict and difficult issues in a professional, assertive, and proactive manner.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
