This position is responsible for the preparation of life and A&H insurance forms that will ultimately be filed with state insurance departments for approval. The analyst will utilize various industry tools to carry out such filings (i.e. SERFF, I-file, etc.). Related to these filings, the analyst with guidance will be responsible for resolving filing issues identified during the course of review and approval. The analyst will collaborate with other team members across multiple locations, management, peers and others on a variety of regulatory needs to facilitate successful filing submissions and outcomes. The analyst will work in a group setting for project work both within the department and with business partners in other departments such as Legal, Compliance, Product Development, Actuarial, Implementation Specialists, Project Managers, and Risk Management.
With oversight, submits complete filing packages for product and related form filings to secure department of insurance approval. Monitors status of filings submitted to regulators to obtain approval of filing submissions. Keeps team, management, and other impacted areas informed of approval progress. Maintains detailed records with filing details documented in database/shared drive of all filings. Transitions filed and approved forms to appropriate teams to ensure forms are installed in systems as approved and in accordance with product specifications. Performs applicable post-launch activities associated with this task. Supports the development of more complex drafting and final versions of policy forms that are in regulatory compliance and supports consolidating feedback from various departments to ensure policy forms address the needs of all areas within the company. With oversight, negotiates with various regulators to resolve objections to form filings while maintaining the intended product design and features. Participates, as required, in the review and analysis of new federal and state insurance statutes, regulations and bulletins to determine the impact on current and future products. Develops and maintains in-depth insurance regulatory knowledge by staying abreast of state and federal insurance statutory and regulatory changes and bulletins using industry resources. Utilizes specific industry tools such as SERFF, I-file, and NILS KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS Minimum two years of previous experience in the insurance or financial services industry preferably in a product management, product development, regulatory, compliance, legal, operations and/or policy development/filing position. Experience in a compliance, regulatory, legal or similar operational function preferable Education equivalent to bachelor's degree or the equivalent in related work experience. Ability to gain an understanding of regulatory environment and filing requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Ability to understand technical language (as in regulatory and state requirements). Ability to develop skills to analyze, assess, investigate, and interpret regulations, statutes, and bulletins related to policy forms and the filing process. Highly motivated team player with the ability to work independently with little supervision. Positive team player who has the ability to build relationships with business partners, achieve assigned goals, and demonstrate ownership for and carry out assigned responsibilities. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering quality results and adjusting to changing needs. Proven strong project and time management skills. Proficient in Microsoft applications including MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
