AIG Claims, Inc.
Provides legal advice and representation to AIG and/or the insured in Coverage matters while minimizing legal and indemnity exposure.
Handle cases of moderate complexity and financial exposure; may handle higher exposure cases as part of a legal team / training development activity.
Represent AIG-member insurance companies in insurance coverage litigation from inception through conclusion Review and analyze insurance coverage documentation and opine on the advisability of litigation Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, reports, settlement documents and other legal instruments necessary to the practice of insurance coverage litigation Negotiate settlements of complex insurance coverage litigation and prepare necessary settlement documentation Provide accurate and timely legal advice on a wide array of insurance coverage issues and draft memoranda analyzing such issues Provide opinions to claims groups on discrete insurance coverage issues and their impact on the company's overall exposure Interact positively and professionally with colleagues, claims groups and senior management Demonstrate high degree of sound independent judgment
Technical Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years handling insurance coverage matters and coverage litigation
- Detailed knowledge of local statutes, regulations, case law, local procedure, court rules, and litigation strategy
- Ability to independently litigate insurance coverage cases in the specified jurisdiction
- Ability to identify coverage issues and formulate efficient litigation plans based thereon
- Strong and effective communication skills
- JD required; NY State bar admission required; NY and NJ admission preferred
