Product Policy Forms development for initial submission to Department of Insurance

  • Develops generic and state specific policy forms in accordance with state statutes and regulations based on information provided by product, underwriting, actuarial, legal and compliance
  • Form types developed: policy, certificate, riders & endorsements
  • Additional documents developed: filing letters explaining product scope/covered groups/product variations, Explanation of Variables, and Issue Pages
  • Develops policy forms for “single case filings” as needed and in accordance with state statutes and regulations based on information provided by product, underwriting, actuarial, legal and compliance

Responding to objections received from Department of Insurance

  • Partners with state filing department, legal, compliance, product, underwriting, and actuaries to obtain responses to comments and/or objections from state insurance examiners
  • Reviews objections and statutory references and develops responses to objections or comments from state insurance departments in accordance with state statutes and regulations and in a professional tone

Product Development Support

  • Develop policy wording for new coverages that accurately defines the intent. Can include a complete brand new policy form or an amendment that adds new coverage to an existing form.
  • Provide expertise in analyzing proposed product change requests to current filings, defining possible options to support the requested changes and clearly identifying the impact
  • Provide product support to others, including Underwriting, Marketing and training teams as it relates to policy forms.

Product Policy Form Development support

  • Provide status updates weekly so Project Manager can update product Tracking log which monitors form development progress and activity
  • Keeps all stakeholders apprised on product policy forms development progress and any challenges that might be encountered
  • Meets established metrics related to product policy forms development

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
  • 3 - 5 years of product policy forms development experience, preferable with accident and health products
  • Experience working with state insurance departments and SERFFR is preferred
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret product specifications/business intent and transfer those requirements into compliant policy form language
  • Strong ability to interpret and translate state insurance statutes and regulations
  • Strong analytical, writing and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Strong ability to function independently in a fast paced environment
  • Strong ability to handle large and diverse workload
  • Strong execution skills with the ability to ensure achievement of critical goals
