Position Description:

The Senior Agile Portfolio Manager will oversee portfolio/product-level value-driven governance for SAFe Agile product deliveries across the IT Investment Management Lifecycle. The position will play an integral role in ensuring that IT portfolio investments are aligned to the business strategy and meet short/long term business needs and value expectations.

This person will also drive Portfolio-level Information Delivery and provide Value Risk Oversight by partnering with IT Delivery Leads and Release Train Engineers to define, analyze, and report out on portfolio-level technology and business risks, metrics, and information related to value delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Value Alignment & Agile Governance

  • Governing portfolio efforts in a Scaled SAFE Agile / DevOps (Continuous Delivery) environment
  • Overseeing the achievement and risk “blockers” related to IT product deliveries
  • Partnering with IT Delivery Leads to develop and review lean business cases, linking business benefits to IT investments for funding and allocation requests
  • Ensuring Scaled SAFE Agile governance processes and decisions are applied consistently

Portfolio Transparency, Metrics, & Risk

  • Overseeing the creation and review of key metrics, outcomes, and reporting related to key milestones and objectives
  • Assessing/reporting the health of product deliveries with objectivity, accuracy, and transparency
  • Ensuring that appropriate stakeholders are engaged in risk identification and mitigation
  • Ability to predict and identify risks/opportunities from interdependencies of product deliveries

Team Leadership

  • Drive a culture of achievement and support the identification/removal of barriers to delivery
  • Promoting the pace and energy within the team and leading by example
  • Strong commitment and support for the success of the team and is outcomes

Highly Desired Candidate Qualities:

  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse leaders
  • Proven experience managing effective IT governance in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and/or other agile delivery
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience overseeing complex and large budget IT initiatives
  • Able to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, can handle the unexpected with flexibility
  • A team player who favors a collaborative approach and can build trust with others
  • A high energy leader who is tenacious and passionate about reaching their goals

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience in managing multiple information systems projects
  • 5+ years' experience in an agile / scrum environment with a demonstrated appreciation for large enterprise standards
  • Ability to demonstrate a proven track record managing a cross-functional process or IT delivery team in a results-driven environment
  • Proficient knowledge of Agile/DevOps/Program Mgmt. Lifecycle Methodologies & Standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills
  • Experience working in a geographically distributed and culturally diverse work-group
  • Knowledge and experience using MS Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Visio
