Business Development Manager, or BDM, is primarily responsible for winning and developing new business within new and existing accounts. BDMs will contact leads directly to sell AIG Travel assistance services and on a fee and free basis, respectively. Leads will develop through multiple sources including self-generated sales, broker accounts, ADM referral and house accounts. A BDM is responsible for outside and inside sales acquisition of new accounts within defined vertical industries. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applies understanding of the travel assistance services, insurance, medical assistance and personal security assistance industries to meet customer needs and qualify potential opportunities. Sells company products and services to existing and prospect accounts by building professional relationships with key decision makers. Works toward a defined sales quota based on existing and prospect account potential. Seeks to develop partnerships with key decision makers at financial institutions, credit card companies, large associations, membership groups, benefit companies, travel companies and telecommunication industries. Works with other team members (personal assistance center, reservation assistance center and other internal operations) to meet and exceed customer expectations and increase sales of AIG Travel products and services. Works closely with the Vice President of Travel Assistance to gain feedback and coaching for sales effectiveness in field and telephonic sales. Applies sales abilities to effectively develop and present AIG Travel assistance services to affected decision makers.

Job Requirements:
Necessary Skills - Sales experience. Assistance sales experience helpful but not required - Negotiation skills - Understanding of AIG infrastructure helpful, but not required - Underwriting and pricing assistance services helpful, but not required - Strong presentation skills are a required - Contract/compliance skills are helpful - Dealing with Fortune 500 companies are critical - Dealing with major insurance brokers are critical - Previous experience and prompt attention to responding to Request for Proposals (RFPs) is helpful Preferred Experience/Background The candidate must have a strong sales background. The ideal candidate will have that background in the specific field of assistance services. Success in sales is a requirement and the applicant should provide tangible examples of significant sales success, activity and a strong sales pipeline. The ideal candidate would have over 5+ years of sales experience.
