Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company (FILI) was formed to meet the critical retirement needs of Fidelity customers.  FILI has grown rapidly since its launch in January 1987, and continues to develop its partnerships with distribution channels and expand its array of annuity and protection products.  FILI is a critical component of Fidelity's accumulation and retirement platform; offering innovative products that are low cost, transparent and easy to buy.  

Position Overview

The Regional Sales Director (RSD) is responsible for providing leadership for and execution of the Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company (FILI) sales support model.  The RSD has direct responsibility for a team of 12-16 FILI Planning Consultants (PC) who support their assigned PI branch or phone teams in achieving their FILI sales targets.

Primary Responsibilities 

Drive Business Development

  • Execute National FILI Sales/Wholesaling strategies to achieve FILI sales goals  (2011 goal = $6B)
  • Develop regional and local programs and initiatives that support the goal of every S/AE in that branch/phone market can reach their sales goal, creating a consistent customer experience
  • Utilize available reporting to recognize success, see opportunities and drive improvement
  • Partner with the FILI RVP to ensure that strategy, messaging, and plan execution is coordinated between the field and phones
  • Partner with PI Managers and consultants (RPC/GC) in business planning and execution
  • Provide supervisory review for new business when needed

Create a Culture Worthy of Everyone's Best Efforts

  • Direct responsibility for the FILI Planning Consultant team, including hiring, training, motivating, and retaining FILI Sales associates to execute Sales/Wholesaling programs
  • Set clear expectations for the PC's and communicate frequently on their progress
  • Develop the individual and collective skill-set needs of the team
  • Ensure that the PC's understand the value of their work to their customers, the representatives they support and Fidelity
  • Ensure that the PC's understand the goals and strategic direction of Fidelity and FILI
  • Drive participation for national initiatives to ensure the voice of the PC is heard in national strategy work
  • Ensure the work meets or exceeds compliance standards
  • Manage and Influence branch/team alignments, relationships, and activities within the assigned territory

Be a Leader for the FILI Business  

  • Direct responsibility for an RSD work stream, a shared component of the team's overall leadership contribution
  • Partner with national sales and marketing management to review and influence FILI collateral, products, services, and communication for FILI's customers, and PI Partners
  • Support phone operational activities, including responsibility for team operational metrics as well as input on call routing, tools, phone technology, and staffing
  • Collaborate with FILI Operations and Compliance, including problem resolution and escalated issues
  • Collaborate with business partners from different areas of Fidelity to foster integration of FILI's value proposition
  • Represent the voice of the customer to the organization
  • Make periodic visits to the branches and phone teams in the covered markets
