The Expertise We're Looking For

  • 10 years' experience in developing, managing or marketing investment products preferably across multiple asset classes & styles. Background in portfolio decision-making is highly desirable.

  • CFA charter holder

  • MBA or master's degree expected

  • FINRA Series 7 & 63 licenses required within 4 months of joining

The Purpose of Your Role

The Portfolio Strategist assists Fidelity's financial intermediary clients to build better model portfolios.  This role combines asset allocation & portfolio construction knowhow with client-facing & sales skills.

  • Demonstrated investment acumen, with the ability to respectfully challenge others' investment views.

  • Conversant with topics like risk budgeting, factor investing & portfolio optimization.

  • Experienced strategist capable of independently completing complex portfolio analyses

  • Demonstrated ability to balance highly tailored client deliverables with intellectual leverage & reuse

  • Ideal candidate will combine superior knack for tackling the hardest portfolio challenges with unusual grace & persuasiveness

  • Strong sales communication & writing skills esp translating complex quantitative investment analysis into relevant, actionable investment solutions

  • Trusted portfolio counselor to nation's most sophisticated & demanding investment advisors

  • Developer of trusted relationships with select internal & external partners

The Value You Deliver

  • Set and meet internal & external client expectations throughout each engagement.

  • Achieve activity targets and lead sales wins (in partnership with wholesalers or relationship managers) while regularly securing lasting confidence from external clients.

  • Serve as faculty member and/or leader of Portfolio Construction Institute client seminars. Achieve audience satisfaction as measured by surveys.

  • Design team processes, tools, frameworks, presentations & campaigns as needed. Provide input to Product & Marketing teams on Fidelity products & campaigns, market trends, client needs, and addressable gaps.

  • Serve as trusted & valued partner to investment, product, marketing and sales personnel throughout Fidelity.

  • Independently undertake analytical tasks and projects, including Portfolio Reviews for external financial advisor clients as well as client home offices.

  • Assess the implementation efficiency of client investment strategy views utilizing where possible:

    • (1) Fidelity's AART frameworks & published Thought Leadership

    • (2) Team best practices as highlighted during Portfolio Construction Institute events

    • (3) PWI Manager Research notes

    • (4) Team's own analytical tools such as FYI & FSI

    • (5) Own and team's understanding of markets, products, themes and techniques.

  • Generate actionable insights and feasible rotations into Fidelity and 3rd party products to enhance the portfolio's implementation efficiency.

  • Communicate key findings & actionable guidance in a clear, concise & inspiring manner to establish oneself as a highly valued partner in the advisor's practice and the wholesaler/relationship manager's region.

  • Assist management with goal setting & supervision as needed.
