Are YOU holding yourself back?
You have begun your job search, but are not getting calls? Try to avoid these common mistakes when applying for a job:
1) Your resume is not in a compatible format. Be sure check acceptable formats for resume submission on the company's career page. Also, remember that many companies use computers scan resumes, meaning colors and certain fonts will not work or be readable. Use the K.I.S.S. (Keep it Simple Stupid) principle for e-communications.
2) You did not follow their instructions. Recruiters are busy people, and although they want to hire, they weed out all the applicants they can starting from the application process. For example, if the ad may state to submit application to ATTN: Charley or that only calls will be an acceptable way to secure an interview.
3) Blind submission; too much or too little is the debate for 2015. Did you provide enough information for recruiters or managers to research your credentials? If you are on LinkedIn, add your LIn address to your resume. On the other hand, is your LinkedIn page up to date and match your resume?
