Description

The VP, Digital Advocacy and Policy Communications will serve on Fidelity Investments' Government Relations and Public Policy (GRPP) team in the firm's Communications, Public Affairs and Policy Group (CPAPG).

 

The Team

The position will support Fidelity's policy initiatives and advocacy efforts through the development of strategic advocacy messaging, social media strategies for policy, digital and creative content for impactful communications with stakeholder audiences, including federal and state lawmakers and regulators, media outlets and opinion leaders such as think tanks, as well as trade associations.  The position will also support internal communications specific to the policy and political environment, including internal and external client communications, presentations and other programming. For all aspects of media relations and external social media, the position will collaborate with the firm's External Communications team to execute initiatives/campaigns ensuring alignment and consistency with Fidelity's broader media priorities.

 

The Expertise You Have

  • Minimum of 8 years of advocacy, communications, media relations experience

  • Financial services industry and policy experience

  • Existing relationships with media, opinion leaders, trade associations, policymakers

  • Working knowledge of government and the legislative/regulatory process 

  • Bachelor of Arts required, graduate degree preferred

The Value You Deliver

  • Oversee the firm's policy views for consistency across the enterprise, advising on empirical support and research needs for Fidelity's positions.

  • Track public policy issues and trends relevant to the firm, guide analysis of proposals that may impact the firm, and help develop firm-wide points of view and advocacy messaging.

  • Manage, review and edit executive prep and briefing materials.

  • Support business unit and client messaging to help advise their work based on policy developments and outlook.

  • Synthesize and explain various issues and complex information in a concise, user-friendly way for business leaders and policymakers

  • Help identify threats and opportunities in the policy arena.

  • Manage, review and edit executive prep materials 

  • Partner with Fidelity's marketing, thought leadership and communications teams to leverage opportunities to condition the environment on policy.

  • Work with trade associations, think tanks, academics and other thought leaders.

  • Present to clients on public policy matters of interest and impact on the firm's businesses and clients/customers.
