AIG's Internal Audit Group (IAG) provides independent and objective assurance, advice, and insight guided by a philosophy of adding value to improve the operations of AIG. IAG assists AIG in accomplishing its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of AIG's control environment including risk management, operational, financial, internal control, and governance processes.



As an Associate Director you will be part of IAG's Transformation and Automation team in the NY office location. You will collaborate with the global IAG team, AIG business stakeholders, IT peers and other AIG assurance teams to:


  • Identify automation candidates, document requirements, develop and test automation solutions and maintain successfully tested solutions in a production environment (i.e. Automation lifecycle)
  • Govern the above lifecycle by
    • ensuring the operation is visible and meets governance requirements,
    • ensuring risks, bottlenecks and issues are transparent and communicated to the appropriate stakeholder groups at appropriate frequency and resolved in a timely manner and
    • ensuring progress and operational effectiveness is measurable
    • ensuring that any persisted data is managed and governed per industry standards and best practices
  • Anticipate issues and challenges based on experience and seek resolution proactively through win-win collaboration, negotiations, leveraging relationships and partnerships.
  • Continually identify process improvement opportunities and work to improve processes
  • Collaborate with Learning and Development group to develop a training plan for the automation team and internal audit group where applicable to embrace next generation technologies and advanced in data science

Specific Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with audit, IT, business transformation and peer teams to ensure automation candidates are identified, requirements documented, requirement approvals are documented, automation solutions are developed, tested and implemented with necessary approvals, training and business continuity is documented and automations are successfully maintained and improved in a production environment
  • Govern the above lifecycle by
    • ensuring the operation is visible and meeting governance requirements,
    • ensuring risks, bottlenecks and issues are transparent and communicated to the appropriate stakeholder groups at appropriate frequency and resolved in a timely manner and
    • ensuring operational effectiveness is measurable
    • ensuring that any persisted data is managed and governed per industry standards and best practices
  • Anticipate issues and challenges based on experience and seek resolution proactively through win-win collaboration, negotiations, leveraging relationships and partnerships.
  • Continually identify process improvement opportunities and work with team to improve processes, delivery timeframes and customer experience.
  • Collaborate with Learning and Development group to develop a training plan for the automation team and internal audit group where applicable to embrace next generation technologies and advanced in data science
  • Manage a team of global automation professionals according to industry/ professional standards
  • Interact with internal and external regulators and other assurance or automation functions for regulatory/ governance examinations, status updates, best practices and other queries, as needed
  • 25%- 50% travel may be required

Qualifications
  • 10 + years professional experience interacting and managing a global team leading business process improvement and automation solutions development
  • Lean Six Sigma/ Operational Excellence designation (Six Sigma Black Belt), strong IT program/ project management skills (PMP, Agile or ITIL designation) and certified in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) analysis and/ or development.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree. Master's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science degrees preferred. Supervisory / managerial experience, with strong people management skills to coach, motivate and lead a team of senior process, operations and IT professionals
  • Technology background with experience in developing Data Analytics, Data Science and Robotic Process Automation infrastructure and teams strongly preferred
  • Ability to develop successful coalitions within IAG and AIG leadership and stakeholders by actively seeking the perspectives of others, focused listening, and sharing information and ideas.
  • Ability to think independently, develop and communicate concrete, impactful, win-win solutions in abstract or ambiguous situations
  • Ability to articulate technology risk to business impact
  • Consultative mind-set that will drive transformation initiatives from concept to adoption
  • Experience with insurance systems such as policy admin, actuarial & SAP systems
  • Experience in and knowledge of communications, finance, human resources, legal, compliance, enterprise risk management, and/or investments functions processes preferred
  • Familiarity with applicable industry laws and regulations related to audit and related to data governance and management
  • Understanding of audit and/or risk methodologies preferred
  • Thoughtful and decisive behavior in dealing with challenging situations
  • Strong communication (oral and written), presentation
  • Strategic thinker who possesses and promotes a culture of intellectual curiosity
  • Background in the methodology and practice of audit . Experience in the use of data analysis and automation tools to enhance the audit practice is a plus (e.g. MS Excel tools, Access, ACL, IDEA, QlikView, Tableau etc.
  • Experience working in the financial services/insurance industries a plus
