Candidate/Job Seeker FAQs

Q: Who is BrokerHunter?

A: BrokerHunter has been in business since 1999 providing our services to the Financial Services/Securities/Insurance industry. These services include FREE resume/profile listings of Candidate/Job Seekers and postings of job openings. We match candidate qualifications such as registrations, production levels (if applicable for the position) and years experience to jobs, making our site a proactive, yet easy-to-use forum for finding jobs in our industry.

BrokerHunter was founded by former brokers and recruiting specialists who saw the need for a specialized employment website to serve the unique nature of the securities and insurance sectors.

Q: What is BrokerHunter?

A: BrokerHunter is a national employment jobsite where Job Seekers can post their Resume and answer other specific questions that create an employment Profile. Employing firms post job openings on our site and search our database of Profiles seeking Job Candidates.

BrokerHunter is not a traditional recruiter in the sense that we work one-on-one with Candidates to help place them with an employer. However, this function is handled by recruiters, who may advertise on our website. These recruiters usually work on a fee-basis charging the Employer when a successful hire is made.

Q: How does BrokerHunter work?

A: For Candidates it all starts with completing a Free Profile. This Profile may be either CONFIDENTIAL or NON-CONFIDENTIAL (see the question “I’m worried about Privacy below for more details).

This Profile will instantly match you with all of the jobs posted on our site, for which, you qualify. You may choose to apply for jobs online through our site, by clicking the “I’m Interested – Apply Now” button associated with most job postings. You may also search our jobs online for interesting opportunities and apply directly to those jobs. As new jobs are posted you will be notified by email, if you qualify for that opportunity.

Q: Is BrokerHunter just for Brokers?

A: Absolutely not!

Our job categories include: Registered Brokers – Retail, Futures or Institutional, Insurance Sales, Branch/Sales Managers, Sales Assistants, Traders, Wholesalers, Trainers, IT Specialists, Compliance, FINOP’s, Analysts, Human Resource Specialists, Marketing, Operations and more.

Q: I’m looking for a new opportunity. Does BrokerHunter cost me anything?

A: BrokerHunter is free of charge for professionals seeking employment. The employer pays a fee to post jobs on our site.

Q: I'm worried about Privacy. What information is displayed on the Internet about me?

A: We put you in total control of the information release process. There are 2 categories for Candidate Profiles on our site: CONFIDENTIAL and Non-CONFIDENTIAL. The default status in CONFIDENTIAL and your Profile will be kept as CONFIDENTIAL unless you specify the NON-CONFIDENTIAL status.

CONFIDENTIAL STATUS: If you choose the default CONFIDENTIAL status: all ID information such as your name, address, phone number, email address and Resume ARE NOT made available to anyone without your permission. Firms make a decision whether or not to contact you based upon the other profile information that you submit. You will be notified if a firm has interest in you by email through our site, protecting your identity. At that time you will have the option to release your full profile or not.

This method is much more CONFIDENTIAL than using a traditional online resume, which usually contains enough information to identify you (i.e., current and previous employers, schools attended, etc). The situation that we are trying to avoid is to have your current manager see your resume on the Internet and to know that you are looking for a new opportunity.

NON-CONFIDENTIAL STATUS: This status will make your entire Profile “searchable”. This means that employers will be able to view your contact information and contact you directly. This includes: your name, address, phone number and email address. If you do not want this information displayed online and made available to potential employers, then you will want to select the CONFIDENTIAL status.

This status maximizes your exposure, but is probably not well suited for individuals who do not want their current employers to see their Profiles online.

Q: Why shouldn't I just post my resume to one of the big internet job boards?

A: Feel free to do so! In fact we recommend that you explore all reasonable avenues when looking for a new job. There is no conflict, and multiple postings may help you find the job you seek.

Just remember that BrokerHunter is the #1 Securities Industry employment website - so make sure you post to here too!

Employer/Firm FAQs

Q: Who is BrokerHunter?

A: BrokerHunter was founded in 1999, by former brokers and recruiting specialists who saw the need for a specialized employment website to serve the unique nature of the securities and insurance sectors.

  • Job Seekers post their Resume and answer up to 80 other specific questions that create an employment Profile.
  • Employing firms post job openings on our site and search our database of Profiles seeking Job Candidates.

Q: Where does BrokerHunter do business?

A: BrokerHunter does business across the United States. In addition, there are Candidates in the geographical area of “Other” looking for opportunities internationally.

Q: How does BrokerHunter work?

A: BrokerHunter is Free for Candidates, who may post a Profile.

We charge employers when they post a job (SmartAd) and we bundle our database search with the job posting at no additional charge.

Click here for more details about How We Work.

Q: Can BrokerHunter help us find Candidates for “non-broker” positions?

A: Yes!

Our job categories include: Registered Brokers – Retail, Futures or Institutional, Insurance Sales, Branch/Sales Managers, Sales Assistants, Traders, Wholesalers, Trainers, IT Specialists, Compliance, FINOP’s, Analysts, Human Resource Specialists, Marketing, Operations and more.

Q: Job Postings: What is a SmartAd?

A: SmartAd is our name for a job posting that highlights an important feature of our postings: a SmartAd proactively notifies all qualifying Candidates by email at the time it is posted and upon each 60-day renewal of the SmartAd. The SmartAd also works to notify new qualify Candidates that come on to the site during the posting period.

Q: How much does a Job Posting (SmartAd) cost?

A: Our job postings (SmartAds) start at $425 for a single 60-day posting for a job type in a geographical area, e.g. a SmartAd for a Registered Broker in New York City is One (1) SmartAd. We do not charge any fees over and above our SmartAd price for successfully hiring a Candidate from our site.

Purchasing bundles of job postings (SmartAds) can save you lots of money. Price breaks begin with the purchase of a second posting and continue as purchase quantities increase. For example you can get the price of a posting down to $195, a savings of over 33 percent, by purchasing a "24-pack" of SmartAds - the more you purchase the more you save!

It is important to understand that SmartAds can be purchased in quantity in anticipation of needs 12 or even 24 months or more down the line. Why? Because with our SmartAds there is NOT a deadline for activation, like there is at some other job sites; once your purchase your SmartAds can be activated at any time in the future.

See our SmartAd pricing schedule.

Q: Do Job Postings (SmartAds) expire?

A: SmartAds last for 60-days once activated. However ;there is not an expiration date or deadline for activating or using the SmartAd. Therefore firms may purchase bundles, at discount, for future needs and use them whenever they want. This is in contrast to most job sites, where the postings must be used with a 12-month period or you lose them.

Q: What are the geographical areas covered by your Job Postings (SmartAds)?

A:The United States is broken into 90 areas for job posting/search purposes. Click here for a listing and help in determining the number of postings you will need.

Q: Do you offer resume search?

A:Yes, in fact our “resume search” we call SmartSearch is a very powerful function that is included FREE with your purchase of job postings (SmartAds).

You will be able to access all of the Candidates for the geographical area and job type that matches your job posting, e.g. for a broker posting in New York City, you will be able to search all Candidates looking for a broker job in NYC. You will be able to view and contact directly any Candidates that have posted NON-CONFIDENTIAL Profiles and you will be able to send an email to all Candidates, including those that are classified CONFIDENTIAL.

Q: Does BrokerHunter allow an employer to recruit and contact Candidates proactively?

A: Yes, there are several ways this is accomplished:

You may search Candidates and contact all of the NON-CONFIDENTIAL Candidates, for the job type and geographical area matching your Job Posting. Names, phone numbers and emails are displayed for NON-CONFIDENTIAL Candidates.

Our SmartSearch database search tool allows you to search the database and contact CONFIDENTIAL or Non-CONFIDENTIAL Candidates with a saved email response or you can create and send a custom email.

Q: How does CONFIDENTIAL vs. Non-CONFIDENTIAL work?

A: Candidates make this choice when they register on our site. Both CONFIDENTIAL and Non-CONFIDENTIAL are notified of your jobs posting, if the meet your criteria, automatically by your SmartAd (job posting). However, you will not be able to see the contact information for CONFIDENTIAL Candidates unless they Apply to your job posting.

    • Our site generates very targeted traffic with over 90,000 visitors per month.
