The Internet Marketing Technology (IMT) department partners with Marketing to deliver innovative technology solutions focused on marketing programs and marketing tools. Additionally, IMT provides consulting expertise to guide overall prioritization and drive scheduling of marketing technology initiatives and maintains the overall project portfolio and content elements for Allstate.com applications, the only consumer facing applications at Allstate.
 
APPLICATIONS DEVELOPER — PROFESSIONAL
 
As an Applications Developer - Professional, you will be responsible for creating detailed technical specifications, developing application and system code, participating in code reviews and module testing, and supporting on-going maintenance.
 
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Reviews and evaluates detailed business, functional, and high-level technical requirements
  • Designs detailed technical components
  • Develops code independently for intermediate to complex modules
  • Plans and conducts timely structured code reviews
  • Created accurate test plans, conditions, and data
  • Acts as subject matter expert for a portion of a complex system 
  • Mentoring and coaching peers, colleagues and less experienced developers.
  • As a referral expert in programming languages, data structures and design methods, evaluates detailed technical design components.
  • Assisting in the creation and reviewing detailed project estimates and work plans.
  • Programming of complex code requiring subject matter expertise or workload balance.
  • Preparing and packaging production-ready code modules to staging with proper communications to QC, developers, and management.
The successful candidate should exhibit the following skills and abilities:
  • Programming — Has played a lead role in all tasks and activities required to complete programming tasks for complex applications and experience with full system implementations.
  • Program Documentation — Demonstrated ability to translate detailed and complicated technical ideas into easily understood documents.
  • Program Testing — Skilled at testing between programs for an entire system—demonstrated use of terminal debugging systems and interprogram/interlibrary text editing.
  • Applications Knowledge — Demonstrated business understanding of an applications as well as the impact of new technology, platforms and design criteria on the application.


 
Education:
College Degree:  Preferred
College Major Preferred:  Computer Science

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of firm's products and services
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Formal training in software application design & development with strong technical skills
  • Experience with content management systems such as Interwoven a plus
Computer proficiency

Resources should be well versed in Object Oriented programming and should currently be working in an http/https web development environment. The resource will have a focus on the user interface (client) layer.

Experience with a customer-facing/e-commerce website required.
